Tracking Beth on Squidoo

Squidoo has started Clubs again. The latest one I have joined is The Big Red Bow. It’s all about Christmas. The motto is “It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas”. There is a Big Red Bow Facebook Page and you can follow the Big Red Bow on Twitter.

Last year I wrote several pages about Christmas ornaments. Unfortunately, I wrote most of them in November and December, so they didn’t have much time to get noticed. This year is going to be different. I wrote this page to gather all my ornament lenses in one place. I used the Big Red Bow template and I love how it turned out.

Norma Budden is becoming famous and very popular on Squidoo. She has created a series of lenses referred to as the Purple Star Series.

What is a Purple Star? It is an award given to Giant Squids on Squidoo for excellence. It is a great honor to receive one. I have 3 Purple Star awards to date, as does Norma.

Norma has lovingly nicknamed the authors of Purple Star lenses (pages) Purple Squids. I referred to her as the Purple Star Lady because she has written 8 beautiful pages dedicated to Purple Star award winners. She has also been referred to as “Queen of the Purple Squids”. I wish I had thought of that one.

Spring is coming! Are you ready? We’re going to find out if the Senior Squids are ready. Every week brings a new challenge to this group on Squidoo. The week of 2/28/10 is my week. I chose Spring as my challenge topic. After all, it’s almost March. The first day of Spring is in March. The topic is broad and includes anything to do with spring, anything involving Spring or that has a spring, something that puts a spring in your step, or anything that happens in Spring. I know the Senior Squids are up to this challenge. I wrote this lens so they could add their pages to it. Squidoo has a module called a plexo. This is a list of links. The authors add the link to their page and can vote for it. Anyone else who reads it can also vote for it. It’s a fun interactive module.

Today, 2/26/10, is graduation day for the RocketMoms Session 5. RocketMoms is an invitation only group of the smartest women on the web. This group is challenged to create lenses on topics picked by RocketMom organizer, Bonnie D. These great ladies help each other to create really superb lenses (pages). Session 5 started just six short weeks ago. The topics chosen were a niche hobby, food/cooking, music, “ask a question”, SquidQuiz, and travel. Two opportunities for extra credit were available, too. One was a Valentine lens and the other, a Linchpin lens. A new Valentine template was introduced inspiring the Valentine topic. Seth Godin, the founder of Squidoo, released his new book, Linchpin, so a linchpin challenge was offered.

One of the great things about Squidoo is that the people there are so willing to help others. I’ve never seen a more giving group of people. At Squidoo, everyone wants everyone else to succeed.

I became a SquidAngel in January. This privilege gave me the ability to “bless” good lenses. One of the categories I have the most lenses in is Squidoo Tips. I wrote this to highlight these helpful lenses.

RocketMoms is a group on Squidoo for “the smartest women on the web”. Bonnie and Robin are the Rocketmoms organizers and have educational sessions for creating and promoting lenses (web pages).
