    Testing P2 theme. Kinda awesome.

If you want to test this on your own blog, here’s what to do: under Plugins, activate Theme Test Drive. Choose P2 from the dropdown list, click “Enable,” and go to your home page… ta-da!

This theme lets you post brief status updates and microblogs (like on Twitter) as well as full-length blog posts. If I were actually able to use P2, I’d probably integrate my site-wide status updates into the “Status” category page with an RSS widget.

How do I install this theme if it isn’t listed on the Available Themes page?

      • Anne Corci 5:59 pm on December 1, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I enabled it sitewide now, so anyone who wants to use it can activate it from the list of available themes (Appearance > Themes). I originally held off because the creators announced a major overhaul is in the works. But, you can always upgrade later if you want to use it now. :)

Oh, awesome. I think they’re done with the major overhaul, for the most part… maybe? I know P2 1.1 is a big improvement on the previous version and it’s only been a few weeks since I last checked.

I’m turning into the biggest Wordpress geek ever! :D

I’m no spammer… but I may have to say goodbye to Squidoo.

One of my lenses has caught the attention of the Squidoo spam filter. I suppose since I’ve criticized Squidoo, they could use this as an excuse to delete all of my lenses. (More …)

Multiple Blog Feeds by Category Niche

Keith Dsouza’s latest post on Weblog Tools Collection is a helpful resource on how to offer separate feeds on your Wordpress blog based on area of interest.

For example, let’s say you run a blog about social networks and web 2.0. Your blog has three main categories: Community, Business, and Technology. (More …)

RedGage: scam at worst, waste of time at best.

As soon as I started hearing people talk about this RedGage site like it was the best thing since CVS ExtraBucks, I knew something wasn’t right. (More …)

Here is the response from RedGage.

Hi I’m Daniel the CEO of RedGage. I was unable to leave a comment on your post. It said: ”ERROR: Could not read CAPTCHA cookie. Make sure you have cookies enabled and not blocking in your web browser settings. Or another plugin is conflicting. ” So I’m sending you this message.

There seems to be some confusion about our Terms and privacy policy so I’d like to clarify. What you describe above is a standard legal way of explaining how internet advertising works. We do not sell your private information to anyone. The ”sponsors” you mention above is our name for advertisers. Like with every other website on the internet, the advertisers receive your ip address so they can tailor their ads. This is common practice and for example is done by YouTube as well: ”YouTube strives to provide you with relevant and useful advertising and we use the DoubleClick cookie, as well as other third party ad serving systems, to do so. We may use a range of information including cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, usage data and other non-personal information about your computer or device (such as browser type and operating system) to provide you with relevant advertising.” The ”Affiliates” you mention are not affiliate marketers but are ”RedGage affiliates” who receive increased rates when they invite friends. If they invite a person to RedGage they automatically become friends and that is why we track the information we do.

I am a bit curious as to why you believe RedGage is a scam. There are many people who have earned real money from the site. I would like to stress that we have been approved by Visa to issue joint debit cards and they have done extensive due diligence. I would appreciate it if you could write a clarification to your post. Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have about RedGage. I would be happy to address any other concerns you may have and to explain how you can utilize RedGage to make money for what you are already doing online.

Hi Daniel, thanks for your response. I actually didn’t say that I believe RedGage is a scam. I think since we have no guarantee that your advertisers will respect our privacy, it is wise to be cautious. That’s my opinion.

Do you have any advertisers at this point? If so, I’d like to know who they are. Also, who else works for RedGage and what are their job titles?

And, finally: why does RedGage pay its affiliates with the Visa debit card system rather than by PayPal or check?

    • cjsysreform 6:39 am on November 20, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Daniel had the same problem trying to post a comment as before; not sure what’s up with that. Anyway, here’s the latest from him.

Thank you for your response and for posting my reply. I would be happy to answer your questions. I attempted to comment again, but ran into the same glitch.

As for the advertisers, we work with some of the largest advertising networks online (Google Adsense, Casale, CPX Interactive, etc). These ad networks hold privacy and security as their utmost concerns. Some of the ads that we have been running this week are ads by Ford, NBC, and HSBC.

RedGage uses the RedGage Visa Gift Cards for the following reasons:
      1) We use Visa over PayPal for security reasons (like fraud prevention).
      2) The RG team is able to reload funds instantly with a wireless transaction to any user’s RedGage Card
      3) Some of our users do not have PayPal accounts or live in countries outside of the USA. The RG cards allow us to use a standard payment without complications.
      4) Lastly, users can spend their RedGage earnings in the real, physical world without a bank. In most cases, PayPal earnings must be transferred and then cash has to be withdrawn.

Please feel free to contact Elizabeth Hauser (the RG Community Director), if you have any other questions about the RedGage community. Her email address is Liz{at}RedGage{dot}com.

just another deceptive money making site. coz well, the contest’s gone. obviously just a sneaky feature to attract users. but really, there’s no way for you to get paid a decent amount for promoting their site. redgage is just gonna pocket all the below minimum payout accounts. even good contents never get featured for the bonus. site sucks really. i hope ppl would think about time they waste on the site trying to earn CENTS, wow CENTS.. redgage gets rich, not the ppl who use it..

Do not attempt Facebook login from here.

The new theme here on The Rebel Squid might falsely lead some visitors to believe their Facebook login page is only a click away, but I’m not worried. Know why? Because this place is way better. You aren’t putting your reputation on the line, as there is zero risk of facebook poking arrest when you hang out here. (More …)

Looks like a Bavarian blog. Gives me the the homesick jeebies. Can I poke you with a pretzel stick? Status update: me busy opening a Bavarian restaurant in Austin. Everything looks white & blue to me. I’ve been reading this blog. Like always.

    • cjsysreform 5:55 pm on November 15, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Yes! I love pretzels. Why are Bavarian blogs white & blue?

    • Chef Keem 11:47 pm on November 15, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Bavarian blogs are not necessarily white & blue, but w & b are the Bavarian colors. You’re welcome.

I don’t suppose I could hit you up for a soft pretzel recipe? It needs to be something I can manage with minimal kitchen supplies and space. If you’ve got a recipe posted somewhere, please share the link in this thread. Thank you.

There’s a pretzel recipe in my lens about Bavarian breakfast foods: http://www.squidoo.com/bavarian-breakfast

w00t! I’m glad someone is trying out this fun theme. Oh, and not that I could possibly outdo Le Chef, but I know there’s a pretzel recipe somewhere on my Oktoberfest lens. Includes some easy dips to go along as well. Achtung, shameles plug coming: http://www.squidoo.com/oktoberfest

Word… and I’ll bet you thought you wouldn’t get much use out of that lens after October. ;)

Lordy, what good is my plug if I’m too stupid to type in the correct link? Oh well, serves me right! :) Now let me go put some moth balls on that lens…
