The Journey is the Most Important Part of the Journey

How often do you hear the words that the journey is the most important step? Well, I just finished reading Seth Godin’s post, In search of dolphin leather, and after having a good laugh at the title, I thought to myself that once again, Seth is writing about something I totally agree with.
“My friend Adam had an interesting take on this. He told me that the acquisition of the leather is irrelevant. It was the quest that mattered. Having a community-based quest means that there’s less room for whining, for infighting and for dissolution. Having a mission not only points everyone in the same direction, it also creates motion. And motion in any direction is often better than no motion at all.”

As relates to Squidoo, in the quest for Giant Squid, Giant Squid 100 Club or any other goal, I believe that the journey is the most important part of the journey. By taking the journey, you actually achieve what is necessary to make you succeed. It is the act of writing, thinking, revising, publishing, promoting, and participating along the way that makes you a great lensmaster. You need to write a lot of lenses to become good at writing lenses. You need to learn how they behave to make them behave better. It is the journey and what you learn along the journey that makes you great. And every time you write, promote, or rewrite a lens, you are continuing the journey.
Unless you take the journey, you will never learn what you need to learn. So as you continue on your journey to success, think about the journey itself. What are you learning about yourself, about Squidoo, and about success along the way?
So go ahead, continue the journey toward your goals. Continue along the path toward success and growth. Strive forwards and congratulate yourself for each step you take because it is the journey itself that you gain the most from.
