Thinking about Squidoo Etiquette and manners on the internet – or is that Netiquette?

September 7, 2009 By AJ 9 Comments

An introduction to AJ’s new role on SquidLog

The trouble with being given a brief to write on SquidLog about whatever comes into your head about Squidoo is that at first you think great! After all, my mind never stops thinking – well I am a Gemini, what do you expect?

BUT in the end you feel like a kid in a candy store. Or as I would normally say in my very English accent:

like a child in a sweet shop

But kid in a candy store is just so wonderfully alliterative, don’t you think?

Squid etiquette1 230x300 Thinking about Squidoo Etiquette and manners on the internet or is that Netiquette? There’s just soooo much to write about Squidoo and all the related stuff, that in the end you just cannot make up your mind what to write about.

So over the past few weeks – in between all the other projects we are working on – Squidster, Chef Keem and I have been corresponding. And given that I have some pretty strong views on how one should behave on Squidoo and while networking on Twitter, Tagfoot and in the SquidU Forum, (to name but a few) we decided for AJ to Muse on Manners. Not only does it give me the focus I am looking for but it gives me a whole list of topics to write about.

Coming up:

Tagfoot and how not to tread on a Bigfoot’s toes

I have secured an exclusive to SquidLog interview with the Oracle of Tagfoot, Debnet. Deb is a Squidoo Lensmaster who has been involved with Tagfoot since the very early days and has helped formulate Tagiquette. As a Tagfoot Bigfoot, she will share tips and guide you on how to get the best out of Tagfoot and not tread on any toes or you could get the boot!

Twitter and how to Tweet “nicely”

I love birds. I don’t mind being woken by the dawn chorus. But if the same bird sang the same song outside my bedroom window every day and that song just consisted of just three notes, that were tweeted over and over and over again, then even this bird lover would probably end up reaching for a 12 bore!

Squidoo – there’s so many places where you need to mind your Squid Etiquette

There’s the SquidU Forum, there’s Guestbooks, there’s Plexos and whatever you do, don’t ever, ever Spam an Angel – heh heh!

Then there’s Helium, Hubpages, Ask.com – blimey, the list is endless!
