September 1st has just passed us by, and although you may not know it, the fall consumer shopping season has begun. From September through December, and often into January, shoppers in the United States actively spend money. This is even more true if they have children or celebrate holidays with family members who do.
School starts by September for just about every school district in the U.S. My daughter was one of the last to start on September 1, and that means that we will be buying her school supplies over Labor Day Weekend. School necessitates continual spending on supplies, birthday gifts, events, etc. for parents of school age children. And let’s not forget all of the holiday get togethers starting with Labor Day Weekend when we need to have a barbeque, rib burn off, or some other grill related gathering as the summer starts to come to a close.
As online marketers, we have the opportunity to make life easier for all of these harried people that are looking to shop for one reason or another. Whether it is school supplies, Halloween costumes, or more ordinary fall purchases, like leaf blowers, or flower bulbs to plant before winter, there are so many items that we can help people decide on better choices to purchase.
For each month of the last four months of the year, there are at least 100 possible articles that you can write about items that people shop for. As you shop for your needs over the next several weeks, can you think of a Squidoo lens to write about everything that you buy?

Planning ahead is something I am getting better with – one of my targets is to have a mix of general lenses that will do well any time of year, plus several that should do well in each specific month of the year.
I also have to admit that I find it easier to do product reviews of items I actually own – I should do more, thanks for the reminder Paula. I am thinking it is probably the same for most people. I keep meaning to do a lens about a specific garden item I have, because I can get some good pics showing it in action
I believe that for most people talking about their own experiences with products or anything else for that matter makes it much more of a natural voice when they write, and easier to infuse their writing with personality and passion. That is why I recommend that all lensmasters write about what they know until they are so good at writing, they can wrote about things that they don’t know about just as well.
Most people know a lot more than they realize.
