Unless you are a superstar, or already have a huge following, writing quality content online is not enough to get your article seen by others.
There are three key components of a successful Squidoo lens or article on any other site, including your own blog that will get you steady traffic over time.
Those three key components are:
- Excellent Keyword Research and Keyword Placement in Your Title, Url, and Content
- Quality Content
- A Vigorous, Strong Backlink Program Driving Your Article Up in the SERPS
If you take action on the three key components outlined here, you will have success online for most, if not all of your online articles and topics.
Each of these terms has been defined in previous posts, but I thought that I would summarize them here in one place to remind you of what is important as we start to get into the primary selling season of the year, fall, Halloween, and Christmas.
Excellent Keyword Research and Keyword Placement
I cannot say this enough times, and I have said it many, many times, that in order to be found online you need to do keyword research. AJ is the expert on this, and you can look over several previous posts here on Squidlog about Keyword Research, but if you are not doing it, you are missing out on vital traffic and sales. You need to do the research before you write your article, to determine how people search for your topic online, then you can insert those keywords into your title, url, and content. This is basic to online success, and is used for every type of site that succeeds.
Quality Content
Content for your articles needs to be original, written by you, and interesting. You don’t have to be the best writer in the world, but write in complete sentences in whatever language the article should be in, and make sense. This is quality content. Grab your reader at the beginning, then lead them through the article. Give them something worth reading.
Vigorous, Strong Backlinking Program
In order to help drive your content up in the search engines, Google, Yahoo, and Bing, you need incoming links from a lot of places. You can wait until this happens naturally, if you don’t mind waiting 10 or more years, but you can assist this in happening by writing short articles on other sites that link to your main content. The more backlinks, the better, especially if they are from sites on a different IP address as your main article.
Your backlinks need to be dofollow links that allow the search engines to crawl them to your site. Otherwise, they are invisible to the search engines.
Squidoo Success, in a Three Step Program
If you consistently do the three steps outlined above, you will succeed.
