My Calculator is screaming for mercy under the weight of the Giant Squid Challenge!

My calculator has become my best friend lately and I just can’t bear it to go out of my sight! That’s the problem when you suffer from GSCS. You start to see things differently. It takes over your life. Your short term memory is shot to pieces and you get very forgetful. Thank goodness it’s a holiday this week – I would probably forget to get the girls up for school!
GSCS turns you into a recluse. You become obsessed with dates and numbers. You become dependent on your calculator. You keep checking the calendar to make sure you have not somehow lost a day. I really started to panic last week when I thought it was Friday, but it was actually only Thursday.
Am I still on schedule? Quick! Do the maths. Where’s the calculator? How many days left? 31. How many left to do? 10. That’s one every 3.1 days. No, it’s OK, I have just finished one. So 9 in 31 days, that’s one every 3.44 recurring days. That’s better – two a week. I can cope with that.
Need to make “them” quicker to do. They are taking too long to put them together but I must not sacrifice quality. That last one took longer than I thought it would, but hey, it was fun. The next one needs to be shorter though or I will fall behind my schedule again.
A new lens every 3.44 recurring days. I keep telling myself I can cope with that! Yes, GSCS takes over your life – that’s what Giant Squid Challenge Syndrome does to you!!
But why would I put myself under all this pressure? It’s partly my own fault. I had a “dip” in Lensmaking during February, which put me back a bit. Yes, for some reason I lost my motivation to make lenses for awhile. You see, it DOES happen, even to the most committed of Lensmasters. My “muse” deserted me and by the time it returned, it was too late to make the 24 lenses I needed to apply for Giant Squid at the end of March.
So what is all this Giant Squid Challenge thing about?
Why do I want to be a Giant? You only have to check out Megan Casey’s lens GiantSquids to see why. Apart from joining an incredible Group of Lensmasters on Squidoo, the perk that appeals to me the most is being able to set up your own Lensmaking templates – and if you have visited my lenses, you will see why! Having pre-set templates will make life so much easier and who knows, my second 50 lenses may be made a lot quicker than the first 50. Wish me luck!
Now where did I put that calculator?

Like, totally relax, AJ! Gosh, you’re such a Squidoo Giant already. You couldn’t produce anything less than quality lenses even if you tried! I’m sure it’s the Great Squid’s absolute pleasure to give you the Giantdom…
Rah, rah! Go team!

I’m sure you’ll make it AJ, you’re determined and focused.
I know what you mean about getting “Squidoo’ed out”, I went through the same thing this winter. In fact, I think I went through the same thing the winter before as well. I’m starting to see a trend here. Since then, I’ve done quite well and I’m pretty close to hitting 100 for the Giant 100 Club. Once I’m there, I’ll have to go back and tweek some of the ones already written.
