What are You Working On?

Coventry Rapid Stop

As I do from time to time, I made my way over to Seth Godin’s blog for some inspiration, and his post, What are you working on? made me think.

Seth says,

“If someone asks you that, are you excited to tell them the answer?

I hope so. If not, you’re wasting away.”

If someone asks me what I am working on when it comes to any of the aspects of my job, I AM excited.  Very excited, actually.  Although my work has up and down days, I love what I do, and hope to keep doing it for a long time.  I love helping to support local artists including showing my own art, and I love writing articles online to earn a living.

What is even more exciting is that I have found a way to make money, and earn a living that I love.  This is not something that everyone can say, especially in a tough economy.

Sometimes people get down on me because I want to make money at my work, but I look at it this way. . .if I make money with my work, then I can hire other people who will them be making money to support themselves.  In addition, my earnings go to pay bills that help generate jobs and work for other people.  My small contribution to the local economy when multiplied by all the people I help feed through my work becomes quite large.  If each one of us could do the same, think of how much better our lives would be, and the lives of people who depend on us for their income and livelihood.

Because of my job, I am helping others.  What could be more exciting than that?

  1. It has always been my ambition to make money from doing what I enjoy and since I joined Squidoo I have learned that I love creating, whether it be a new lens or a new blog or a new paintinf or design on Art Rage, that I can then add to my Zazzle store. So I consider myself a very lucky lady.

And yes, I am very excited about some of the things we have planned on here and also a new project of my own – so it looks like I start 2011 as doubly lucky :)

    • You know, AJ, I think that in most ways, we make our own luck. While it is true both genetics and circumstances play a role in how our lives turn out, I have always believed that it is how we react to our situations that really make us who we are.

      • So true. I was reminded of that in the last few months by a wonderful friend and by Professional Squids. Working online full time is not a dream for me, but a goal. Big difference. I will get there much faster by learning from those that have succeeded and are sharing their knowledge. Thanks for the opportunity. :D
